What is Save for Later?

The Save for Later feature allows shoppers to temporarily set aside products they’re interested in without adding them to the cart or purchasing immediately. It helps customers keep track of items they may want to revisit, compare, or buy at a later time, improving convenience and reducing cart abandonment.

How to enable/disable Save for Later?

  1. Log in to your Shopify Admin.

  2. Navigate to Apps > Wishlist Plus.

  3. On the left-hand sidebar, click on Configuration.

  4. Select 'Help Shoppers Save Favourites' under Features.

  5. Click on the settings on the Save for later feature tile and enable/disable accordingly.

How does Save for Later differ from Wishlist as a feature?

Both Save for Later and Wishlist help you keep track of products you’re interested in, but they’re designed for different shopping needs.

Save for Later

The Save for Later feature lets you temporarily move items out of your cart without removing them completely. It’s useful when you’re not ready to purchase an item right away but want to keep it close for easy access.

Best for:

  • Organising your cart

  • Reviewing items before checkout

  • Short-term shopping decisions

Wishlist

The Wishlist feature allows you to save products you like for future reference. Wishlist items are typically stored in your account, so you can come back to them anytime—even across different sessions or devices.

Best for:

  • Planning future purchases

  • Saving items for later consideration

  • Tracking products you’re interested in

In simple terms

  • Save for Later helps you manage your current cart

  • Wishlist helps you plan purchases for the future
