Integrating Swym Wishlist Plus and Swym Back in Stock with Meta Ads helps you unlock powerful retargeting opportunities that go beyond traditional email or SMS. With this setup, you can reach:
Anonymous shoppers who haven’t shared their contact details
Visitors who haven’t given marketing consent or opted into marketing emails or SMS
New customers through Lookalike Audiences
By sending wishlist and back-in-stock engagement events directly into Meta Ads Manager, Swym allows you to build Custom Audiences from high-intent shoppers. These audiences can then be used for retargeting or to create Lookalike Audiences, helping you drive more conversions, recover missed opportunities, and scale customer acquisition.
This guide walks you through the steps to set up and make the most of this integration.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, ensure the following:
You’re on the Starter plan or higher on Wishlist Plus.
You have an active Meta Business Manager account

Step 4: Send Test Events to Meta Ads
You can test the integration by sending triggers to Meta Ads. To send test triggers, follow the below instructions:
Go to the “Test Events & Triggers” section in the Meta Ads page.
Select the event(s) you want to test.
Enter an email/ a phone number.
Enter the Test Code from Meta Events Manager
Click “Send Test Triggers.”
Open your Meta Events Manager and verify that the test event appears. This confirms the setup is complete and Swym will now push live events to Meta.
Step 5: Enable the required events
With the connection established, choose which events you want Swym to send to Meta. Go to Settings → Events & Trigger Settings and enable the events you’d like to pass on to Meta Ads
Events supported:
Event Name | When this event is triggered |
Swym Add to Wishlist | Shopper adds a product to their wishlist |
Swym Wishlist Reminder | Reminder about wishlist items |
Swym Saved for Later Reminder | Reminder about Saved for Later items |
Swym Price Drop | Product on wishlist has a price drop |
Swym Low Stock | Product on wishlist is running low in stock |
Swym Restock Alert | Product on wishlist is restocked |
Important Note on Integration Type
This is a server-side integration with Meta Ads, which differs from our client-side integration.
Client-side: Only supports the Add to Wishlist event and relies on the shopper’s browser. This can be blocked by cookie restrictions, ad blockers, or Intelligent Tracking Prevention (ITP).
Server-side: Sends events directly from Swym’s servers to Meta, supporting more event types, working with headless stores, and bypassing browser-imposed restrictions for more reliable tracking.
What’s Next?
Create Custom Audiences
Go to Meta Ads Manager → Audiences
Create a new Custom Audience using the Swym events being sent (e.g., Add to Wishlist, Remove from Wishlist, Back in Stock Subscription).
We recommend creating separate audiences for each event type, so you can run highly contextual ad campaigns (e.g., “remind wishlist shoppers about their saved items” or “highlight new arrivals to back-in-stock subscribers”).
Use Audiences in Retargeting Campaigns
Once your Custom Audience reaches Meta’s minimum size threshold, you can attach it to a campaign in Ads Manager.
Craft tailored ad creatives and messaging that align with the shopper action (e.g., promotional offer for wishlisters, urgency messaging for back-in-stock).
Create Lookalike Audiences (Optional but Recommended)
Select any of your Swym-generated Custom Audiences as a source audience.
Build a Lookalike Audience to reach new shoppers who share traits with your most engaged audience segments.
Use these audiences in prospecting campaigns to acquire net-new customers.
Note on Ad Creatives
Swym events let you create Custom Audiences, but by default, the ad creative is generic (e.g., “Come back and shop your favorites”).
If you want shoppers to see the exact product they wishlisted, price-dropped, or subscribed to back in stock, you’ll need to:
Set up a Meta Product Catalog
Use Dynamic Ads
With Dynamic Ads, Meta automatically matches the product IDs sent by Swym to your catalog, so shoppers see the precise product they interacted with in your store.
