In this guide, we’ll walk you through integrating Attentive with Wishlist Plus, setting up Wishlist Reminder automations, and exploring Swym’s full suite of re-engagement triggers.
Prerequisites
To begin, ensure the following requirements are met:
You are on the Swym Wishlist Plus Starter Plan or above
You have an active Attentive Account
Attentive Integration Setup
Go to the Integration tab in the Wishlist Plus dashboard.
Locate Attentive and follow the steps to initiate the integration.
Authorize your Attentive account to integrate with Wishlist Plus.
After authorization, you will be prompted to enter two values:
Sign Up Unit ID for Marketing method
Sign Up Unit ID for Transactional method
To find these IDs:
Log in to your Attentive account
Go to the Sign Up Units tab
Copy the appropriate Unit IDs and paste them into the Attentive integration page in Wishlist Plus.
Once your integration is complete, proceed to the next step to send test events and verify the setup.
Enable Wishlist Reminder Events in the Wishlist app
Important: The Wishlist Reminder emails will only be sent to your shoppers if you’ve set up the corresponding Journeys workflow in Attentive.
Wishlist Reminder events are triggered when a shopper wishlists a product but does not purchase it within a set threshold (default is 24 hours).
Once enabled, you may also activate additional high-impact triggers:
Price Drop: Alerts shoppers when an item in their wishlist goes on sale, increasing urgency and driving purchase decisions.
Back in Stock: Notifies shoppers when a previously sold-out wishlisted product is available again—ideal for fast-moving inventory.
Low Stock: Informs shoppers when an item in their wishlist is running out, using scarcity to drive conversions.
Save for Later Reminder: Re-engages shoppers who saved items during checkout, reminding them to complete their purchase.
Each of these triggers responds to real-time shopper behavior, ensuring your messages are not only personalized but also perfectly timed to maximize conversion.
Sending Test Triggers to Attentive
To ensure your integration is working as expected:
Go to Integrations (Wishlist Plus App) > Attentive > Manage Integration > Test events
Use the Send Test Trigger to simulate a Wishlist event.
In Attentive, go to Subscribers, find the test user, and click their profile.
In the Activities tab, confirm receipt of the event data.
Follow the screenshots below.
This verification step is essential before building automated Journeys in Attentive.
Creating Wishlist Reminder Journeys in Attentive for both SMS and email
Now, let’s build journeys to send SMS and emails to shoppers. Attentive Journey allows brands to automatically send personalized, behavior-driven messages throughout a shopper’s lifecycle.
Build the Journey:
Log in to Attentive
Navigate to Messaging > Journeys
Click Create Journey > Start from Scratch
Choose Swym Wishlist Reminder as the trigger and click Get Started
Mapping the Journey:
Click on the + icon to add one or more actions:To add variables (i.e., the event data sent from the Wishlist app to Attentive), use the Variables option available in the message editor
This allows you to personalize the content using real-time data such as product name, image, price, and more.
Customize the content using Attentive’s editor with rich media, dynamic content, and click tracking
Insert the end Journey block in the last step to close the journey.
Click Turn On to activate it.
Verify the activated journey from the Journey list section.
If your focus is on sending email messages instead of text messages, all the previous steps still apply. Simply select Send Email instead of Send Text Messages (found under Steps → Actions → Send Email).
Additionally, you will need to customize the email template shown in the right-hand side panel, as illustrated below.
The remaining steps are similar to those for sending an SMS (discussed above), typically concluding with the end of the journey.
Now, let’s extend this journey to use both SMS and email. The first step is to insert a branch (found under Steps → Rules → Branch). This will allow you to select any combination of SMS, email, or both.
You will also need to add your preferred channel type under Steps → Actions → Send Text Message or Send Email, or both. Additionally, you must individually set up the text message and email templates with variables to show the wishlisted products to shoppers.
✅ Your Wishlist Reminder journey is now live and ready to convert shoppers. You can again send test events from the Wishlist plus app to verify the journeys.
Using Merge Tags for Personalization
Attentive supports dynamic personalization through merge tags. When drafting a message:
Click the double curly braces icon ({}) to view dynamic options
Use placeholders to add personalized content such as product name, price, and image
Common Merge Tags:
Variable | Sample Value | Description |
EventTime | 2024-01-31T21:12:19Z | When the event occurred |
ProductName | 18k Bloom Earrings | Name of the product |

ImageURL | [Image] | Product image URL |
ProductBrand | Supply Dark | Brand name |

📌 For triggers like Wishlist Reminder and Save for Later Reminder, use dynamic product lists to show multiple items. Note: simpler alerts like Back in Stock use single-item templates.
