Enabling the Circular Background for the Collections Wishlist Icon

Add a white circular background behind the wishlist icon on Collection page tiles, so it stays visible on busy or dark product images.

Intro

A white circular background with a drop shadow can be added behind the wishlist icon on Collection page product tiles. This helps the icon stay visible against busy or dark product photography, where a plain icon can otherwise get lost.

Note: This feature requires the Advanced Collections Button to be active on your Collection pages. If it isn't active yet, set that up first.

What it is

The circular background applies only to the wishlist icon shown on Collection/category page product tiles, as part of the Advanced Collections widget. It does not apply to the Product Detail Page (PDP) button or the wishlist drawer.

Why it exists

Collection tiles display the wishlist icon directly on top of varying product images. A plain icon can be hard to see against busy or dark photography. The white circular badge behind it keeps the icon visible regardless of the image underneath.

Enabling it

For merchants onboarding after March 2026: the Advanced Collections Button is active by default on your theme, but the circular background itself is a separate, additional setting, off by default even once the button is active. See the steps below.

For existing merchants: whether you need to do anything depends on where you stand today.

  • If the Advanced Collections Button isn't active yet, start there. Go to Manage Theme & Settings on the Wishlist Plus app home page, select Collections, and click the Activate Advanced Collections banner just below the theme selection dropdown. This activates the Wishlist Plus Embed, Storefront UI Elements, and the Advanced Collections Button together. Click Save.

  • If the Advanced Collections Button is already active, go to Manage Theme & Settings > Collections, scroll to the bottom, and check Enable circular background for collection icon. Click Save.

Interaction with other settings

If Show Social Count is also enabled, the count badge switches to a small circular badge in the corner instead of its default plain styling.
